The LGBTQS Alliance (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Queer, Straight) spreads awareness on campus about lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, queer, and straight issues in order to increase diversity awareness. It also promotes acceptance of the minority groups that are present at IU East. Visit them on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LGBTQSAlliance
The Safe Zone program has been created to address the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning students and their allies on the IU East campus.
This program consists of training for faculty and staff to become safe zones. Workshops will be led by Aimee Prater, lecturer of psychology.
Safe Zone individuals are there to listen and be a safe space for others to share concerns, joys and experiences that they may not feel comfortable sharing in another setting. Participants that complete the training will sign a pledge to be positive, supportive, and affirming of the LGBTQ community.
To register for training, please contact Amanda Vance, firstname.lastname@example.org at Campus Life.
